Jamaican Touch Board

Overseeing the Development of Touch in Jamaica

We are delighted to announce the delegation of our first Management Board as Jamaican Touch Association. With 5 voting and 2 other members we hope that these people will be ably supported by everyone involved and carry out their tasks with the diligence and dignity that their roles require. Going forward these posts will be confirmed by election at the AGM.

The Board positions, roles and member details are as follows:

Voting Members

President

Tonka Selby

Roles & Responsibilities
Provide schedules, duties and targets for all members, including reviews. Overall guidance of the Association. Assistance to all fellow Board Members. Act as an ambassador for the sport and the Association both Home and Abroad. Develop relationships with external organisations, bodies and teams related to Touch.
Member Profile
A former Ireland Touch player currently residing in Jamaica Tonka has been the driving force behind the development of FIT rules Touch on the island. A FIT accredited Referee and Coach with experience of high level competitions in several countries in Europe and the Americas.

Treasurer

Kerri Edwards

Roles & Responsibilities
Manage the Association’s bank account.
Handling of all incoming funds and the payment of invoices.
Completing Budget Summary reports.
There may be future requirements for budgets and projections, if so an assistant may be deployed.
Member Profile
As an all round sports enthusiast Kerri has been heavily involved with social Touch in Jamaica for several years. Kerri was a member of the first Jamaican representative team to travel to the USA and continues to be a corner stone of the team.

Referee and Tournament Co-ordinator

Laura Edwards

Roles & Responsibilities
Establish, develop and train referees in accordance with FIT rules, regulations, policies and guidelines.
Plan training sessions, promote the role of referees and organise FIT accreditation.
Ensure personal development as a referee by showing diligence and aptitude for the job.
Research, schedule and justify any tournaments, leagues or exhibitions that would involve and benefit Jamaican Touch (Does not include any Domestic Touch Leagues as they will be organised at a club level).
Be the primary contact / liaison for tournaments.
Member Profile
Like her sister, Laura is blessed with talents and adptitude for many sports and was also part of the inaugral tour. With a growing reputation for skills, abilities and determination we are lucky that the girls remain loyal to their country!

Marketing, Media and Sponsorship Executive

Javed Reid

Roles & Responsibilities
Research and develop sponsorship deals, partnerships and opportunities.
Media liaison co-ordinator to ensure fair, accurate and thorough representation.
Look for opportunities for Jamaican Touch to promote the team and the sport of Touch.
Be an ambassador for both the Sport and the Association.
Member Profile
As a former student and player of Vauxhall’s ‘Grand Nephew’ is a familiar face in Jamaican Rugby. With the energy and drive required to help promote the sport domestically that is matched on the pitch.

Coaching and Player Development and Recruitment Officer

Dr Anthony Greenaway

Roles & Responsibilities
Investigate and organise ways and events to get more players involved and interested in the Sport.
Devise and Schedule Coaching sessions and development programmes.
Research FIT coaching schedules and arrange for local members to become involved in courses and accreditation programmes.
Member Profile
With more years experience of Rugby than I’m sure he cares to count, both in Jamaica and overseas ‘Coach’ is one of the most respected authorities on Rugby on the island. Originally hailing from Cantebury, New Zealand, the former senior lecturer is an incredibly valuable asset to have assisting the development of the sport in Jamaica.

Player Development and Recruitment Assistant

Crisdan Grayson

Roles & Responsibilities
Work together with, and under the guidance of, the Coaching and Player Development and Recruitment Officer to get more players involved in the Sport.
Member Profile
It is probably best to describe ‘Rambo’ as a colourful character with a history and passion for all forms of rugby in Jamaica. With more stories, experiences and tales than anyone would have time to listen to, his dedication to the game is certainly clear to see!
